Botkier’s Best Beaches

Botkier’s Best Beaches

TGIS (thank god it’s summer). If you’ve been keeping up with our travel adventures, then you know the Botkier girl loves a good ocean-adjacent getaway. From epic surf to white sand turf, we’ve been plotting and packing to discover the must-hit GPS coordinates to break in our summer sandals and slides. Time to overstuff your striped linen totes, get a rush on that new passport, and slather on the SPF. What are you waiting for? Those vacation days aren’t going to spend themselves.

Sayulita, Mexico

Scoot over, Tulum. This lowkey resortown situated in Mexico’s Pacific North Coast has got it all: bars, boutiques, and, oh yes, beaches. The once-sleepy little fishing village slash secret surf haunt has morphed into a hot spot thanks to its beautiful beaches, bustling food scene, and the boho chic boutiques that line its quaint and colorful streets.

Stay: Villa Amor (beachfront hotel rooms, ocean views, infinity pools),
Sayulita Fish Tacos (shrimp tacos + 300 kinds of tequila. We repeat: 300 kinds of tequila),

Pachamama (gypset paradise opened by hippie French sisters),

Malibu, California

From wine tasting to sunbathing, Southern California’s legendary Malibu beach has no shortage of entertainment—and its glamorous history means its storied sands are filled with the secrets of the stars. And though it’s known for its palatial beachfront properties and bikini-clad starlets, Malibu’s new wave of lowkey eateries and beach-chic lodgings are seriously Instagram-and-budget approved. We’re always surprised at how laid back the local vibe actually is around here. Come for the Kardashian sightings, stay for the surf.

Stay: Surfrider Hotel Malibu (fine linens, rain showers, personal hammocks),
Cafe Habana (prickly pair margaritas, karaoke, corn on the cob),
Malibu Wine Safari (Stanley the Giraffe + wine + more wine — need we say more?),
Baily Beach Tote in Shimmer Canvas

Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

If it’s good enough for the Obamas, then it’s good enough for us. The storybook island has a long and vibrant history, from hosting decades of presidential vacations to serving as the filming location for much of Jaws. Known for its lobster rolls, lighthouses, and pristine beaches, Barack’s favorite hideaway is archetypical New England chic. Bike rides, saltwater taffy, highly-piled ice cream cones. It doesn’t get much more “American summer” than this.

Stay: Summercamp (a whimsically renovated boutique hotel located in historical Oak Bluffs, complete with canteen and game room),
Menemsha Fish market (sit atop lobster cages and indulge in the world’s freshest oysters while watching the local fisherman reel in today’s catch),
Eat Again:
Chilmark General Store (relax on rocking chairs with a slice of porchfront pizza and pickup organic produce),
