Chill Sesh

Chatting balance and wellness with Cyndi Ramirez.

Chill Sesh

At the Garett East, you can expect to have no bad days (or nights) - at least that's what the V-grammable neon sign reads as you walk through the door. It's here that we meet Cyndi Ramirez, founder of Chillhouse and the ultimate girl boss. Seriously, this girl is bad ass. She sits at the bar, surrounded by dozens of different colored jars which will soon be home to her new line of "Chill Blends" - powder blends that offer unique wellness benefits to suit your mood. While she isn't slowing down any time soon, Cyndi took a break to sit down with our founder, Monica Botkier - who also released her first coffee table book on handbags this week - to chat balance, routine, and details on her exciting new venture.

What's the most important thing to you right now?

My family and pup always come first, but Chillhouse is probably my #1 priority right now. We're still in our infancy, and like any newborn, we need a lot of TLC. I'm enjoying the process though.

What is your advice to other women starting businesses, is there such thing as balance?

There's such thing as balance when you get to the point where you're not doing it all. I always say, when you're starting a new business (especially a brick and mortar) you have to be prepared for those brutal months of non-stop work and headaches. From there, hopefully it gets easier. You build your dream team and they slowly learn the business without needing you there to answer all of their questions. All in due time. I'm not 100% there yet, but hoping to be one day!

What is your wellness routine?

I drink green tea every day, and I'm excited to start making our Chill Blends part of my wellness routine. I also try to make it to the gym at least 2 times a week (which is the absolute least we should all be doing but the most my schedule realistically allows sometimes.) I try to get bi-monthly massages and of course I get my nails done weekly. That time for me is vital to recharge and take a moment for myself -- even if it is in my own business. I put myself in a client's shoes and enjoy the chill.

Tell us about your new launch.

Yes! Our Chill Blends! We're super excited about our first products. We thought long and hard about what our customers want and a first step in creating something that'll allow them to take the "Chill" home with them. This is that. We've produced 7 wellness powder blends that all have different benefits for your body, mind and spirit. The blends vary between a "Make Me Glow" to a "Make Me Sleep" powder. For now, they're only available in store (come test them out in our delicious new lattes!), but hopefully you can scoop them online in 2018. Stay tuned. This is only the beginning. :)

How do you define the term influencer?

An influencer is someone who puts themselves out there digitally and shares their lives, work or knowledge with us for a higher purpose. They've grown on their respective social platforms, and their followers have enjoyed the process of watching. They inspire and drive sales. And hopefully they use their voice and content for the good of others, not just their own.

Cyndi's wellness blends officially hit the (chill) house yesterday - head down to 149 Essex Street to get your freshly-manicured hands on a jar to take home.
