If there’s one thing the world needs today, it’s love. That’s the feeling we get when we see James Goldcrown’s graffiti hearts splashed all over the walls, storefronts and sidewalks of our city. It’s just so beautiful and impactful the way he scrawls hearts en masse into our lives with the perfect balance of intention and spontaneity. It’s a reminder of how vital street art can be, how it can capture a moment, or the antidote to a moment, as the case may be.
We were so moved by Goldcrown’s affectionately made public art statements, that we decided to reach out and collaborate with him on a capsule collection of heart-scrawled pieces featuring some of Botkier’s most beloved styles. The classic Cobble Hill Crossbody gets two dripping hearts across the flap, while the Marci Pump comes spangled with the pattern in vibrant multicolor, much like the walls themselves. We love the way these pieces celebrate the spirit of city life, which is something we’ve been doing for 15 years, and we’re thrilled that James has helped us capture this precise moment in our culture.
The best part of this, and anything for us, is giving back. This collection is true style with a purpose, as 20% of sales will benefit Free Arts NYC, a philanthropic organization dedicated to empowering underserved youth through art and mentoring programs. What this means is this collaboration not only champions today’s street art, but ensures it will continue into the next generation.
We can’t wait to see what these kids grow up to create.
